Irrigon began construction on a new skate park, which opened in April of 2007. The park

offers 8,000 sq. feet of concrete bowls and ramps. Mayor Don Baxter, Pastor Rick Yardley,

Tucker Tuvey, Chris Kline, Jerry Breazeale and other members of the committee, secured

funding for the park without using city tax money, relying on grants from the Federal Land

and Water Fund and Oregon State Parks, as well as a $20,000 donation from the

Tony Hawk Foundation. Grindline Skateparks, Inc. is the Seattle company that oversaw the design and

construction. The skate park includes security lighting, security cameras, park benches,

public restroom and a parking lot. Some local donors included

Wayne and Barb Huwe, the Safeway Foundation, Irrigon Park District, Wal-Mart,

Irrigon Moose Lodge, Columbia River Monuments, and Anderson Perry & Associates
